Smokestop Filters for the Blueair Pro Series air cleaners additionally contain activated carbon for use in rooms where there are gaseous pollutants, such as tobacco smoke, odors, or volatile organic compounds (VOCs). They replace the standard Particle Filter that comes in the Bluair Pro Series air cleaners. In addition to the allergen particle-trapping abilities of standard Blueair Particle filters, the Smokestop filter contains hundreds of active carbon pellets formulated with magnesium dioxide and copper oxide to trap gaseous substances and annoying odors. The Pro Series air cleaners have a modular design: the Pro M has one filter, Pro L has 2 filters, and Pro XL has 3 filters. All Pro Series filters have a single V-shaped construction that closes like a book to prevent you from being exposed to pollutants when replacing the filters. Note that the extra layer of activated charcoal will decrease the maximum airflow somewhat. Also note that no air filter can eliminate all hazardous contaminants of second-hand smoke.
